G2 are the first team through to the IEM San Jose semi-finals following a 2-0 victory over CLG (19-17 on de_mirage and 16-7 on de_cache).
The first map of the series, de_mirage, began with an amazing round from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad, who picked up three USP headshots in the B apartment to give G2 the lead. After a scary eco round that almost bore fruits, CLG bought up, but they were unable to put their skill on display, which severely hurt their economy.
Down 0-4, CLG then finally managed to pick up a round, thanks to two opening kills from Stephen "reltuC" Cutler. The North American won six of the following seven rounds to bring the scoreline to 7-5 in their favor, but then a quad kill from Mikail "Maikelele" Bill put an end to their winning streak and inspired G2 to close out the half with a narrow 8-7 lead.
G2 picked up where they had left off and won the opening three rounds on the Terrorist side but they let CLG rally back during the first gun rounds. The North American side solved their defense and brought the scoreline to 11-13, when a 1vs2 clutch by Håvard "rain" Nygaard gave G2 some breathing room as things were starting to look ugly.
The European team managed to win the following round to reach map point but then were unable to close it out as CLG picked up four consecutive rounds to make it 15-15. Carrying their momentum into overtime, CLG took the lead with a solid display on the CT side, but G2 managed to overturn the deficit with a 3-0 clean sweep to claim first blood in the series.

The following map was de_cache, where CLG came out strongly and picked up the pistol round with ease thanks to three stunning entry frags from James "hazed" Cobb. CLG then went back to old days as they failed to capitalise on that win and lost the first anti-eco round.
G2 embarked on a fantastic run that saw them take the scoreline to 5-1, with CLG struggling to find holes in their opponents' defense. The North American side then finally managed to string a couple of rounds together, but G2 remained in the driving seat and took a 10-5 halftime lead.
Pujan "FNS" Mehta gave CLG a much-needed round with a triple kill inside B during a retake, but the home side once again succumbed in the first anti-eco round, this time because they did not buy a defuse kit. Momentum swung back the way of G2, who would drop just one round before sealing a 16-7 success.
